Director Criticizes Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo
RONALDO CARBALLO – The director didn’t hold back his criticism of the Miss Universe Philippines results, where Miss Bulacan, Chelsea Manalo, was declared the winner.
In a Facebook post, Carballo expressed his disappointment, stating that he was rooting for Stacey Gabriel of Cainta to win. He also made remarks about Manalo’s skin color. Paanong nangyari ‘yun?” he said.
Carballo predicted that Manalo wouldn’t make it into the top 20 of Miss Universe 2024.
Carballo’s comments faced backlash from netizens, especially for his remarks about Manalo’s skin color. A netizen criticized him for his harsh words, questioning his respect for women and fellow Filipinos. Another netizen defended Manalo, emphasizing the importance of supporting Filipino contestants and expressing confidence in Manalo’s chances at Miss Universe. As of now, Chelsea Manalo has not yet responded to Carballo’s comments.
