Quiboloy: PNP May Cancel Fugitive Pastor’s Gun Permits This Week

PNP May Cancel Fugitive Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s Firearm Licenses This Week

QUIBOLOY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is considering possibly canceling Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s firearm licenses in the coming week.

Filipino pastor and leader of the Philippines-based Restorationist church known as the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Apollo Quiboloy currently faces numerous arrest warrants stemming from accusations of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination. He is a close friend of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

As per firearm ownership laws, individuals applying for licenses should not have prior convictions or be currently implicated in pending criminal cases carrying a sentence exceeding two years.

Based on a report from Inquirer, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo disclosed that Quiboloy owns 19 firearms, one of which had an expired license as of March. Senator Risa Hontiveros, who spearheaded a Senate investigation into allegations against Quiboloy, raised concerns regarding the delay in the Philippine National Police (PNP) revoking his firearm licenses.

Recently, the senator shared screenshots from social media depicting members of KOJC donning camouflage attire and bearing arms.

“What are they waiting for? It’s all over social media that Quiboloy has a private army. They are ready to lay down their lives for him, they are ready to use their firearms to protect Quiboloy. He is actually a threat to our country’s peace and order,” Hontiveros said.

“I am again calling on the PNP Chief, PGen. Rommel Marbil, to lead better. Quiboloy is a high profile fugitive who must be apprehended,” she added.

According to the report, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is considering revoking the firearm licenses of fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy this week due to multiple charges, including child abuse.

During a forum in Manila on Wednesday, Fajardo revealed that PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil is currently evaluating the recommendation from the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) to cancel Quiboloy’s gun permits, which was submitted to Marbil on Tuesday.

Fajardo stressed that there are clear justifications for withdrawing the licenses issued to the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), citing Section 4 (g) of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as emphasized by the FEO in its suggestion.

“Hopefully within the week, the approved decision of our chief PNP will come out,” she told reporters.
