JM de Guzman discusses his role as a lawyer
JM DE GUZMAN – The Kapamilya actor felt deeply hurt when he was criticized for his role as a lawyer in the drama series “Linlang.”
This was revealed by the young man during a conversation with several members of the entertainment media at the press conference for the upcoming Regal Entertainment movie “Guilty Pleasure,” where he stars opposite Lovi Poe.
JM’s character in the film is also a lawyer, so he didn’t hide the fact that he felt scared when their shooting began. According to JM, he received harsh criticism from viewers of “Linlang,” prompting him to triple his preparation for his role in “Guilty Pleasure.”
He hopes that viewers will approve of his acting as a lawyer in their movie with Lovi, alongside Jameson Blake, under the direction of Connie Macatuno. “Nahirapan ako sa Linlang. Actually, may nam-bash nga sa akin na hindi raw sila naniniwala na lawyer ako sa Linlang so na-hurt ako,” JM narrated. “Ngayon, nag-o-observe ako. May mga kinausap din po ako na mga lawyer nu’ng wake ng lola ko,” he added.
He said that among the things he studied was the proper way lawyers speak and act. Aside from that, he also did research and watched scenes in courtrooms to better understand his character. JM also said he’s ready to do everything for “Guilty Pleasure,” including intimate scenes with Lovi. But the actor revealed he still suffers from severe nerves.
JM expressed his determination to give his best despite feeling nervous, particularly on the first day of shooting. He struggles with anxiety and pressure regarding his performance but finds comfort in the presence of the director and his co-cast members, relying on them and his faith to guide him through, hoping to deliver a worthy performance.
When asked about his guilty pleasure, JM humorously mentioned “alcohol,” followed by a playful comment about moving on from past vices.
