Diwata Posts Bail After Being Arrested

DIWATA – The viral street vendor was released from prison after posting bail amounting to P3,000 due to “slight physical injuries” filed against him back in 2018.

Operatives of the Pasay City Police Warrant and Subpoena (WSS) apprehended Diwata, whose real name is Deo Balbuena, in Pasay City on Tuesday morning, April 16. Diwata was arrested around 10 a.m. at his property located on Diokno Boulevard, Brgy. 76, in Pasay City. This was based on the warrant of arrest served by WSS personnel led by P/Lieut. Alexander Macarunay.

Pasay City Police Chief P/Col. Mario Mayames, Jr. stated that the warrant of arrest was issued by Pasay City Metropolitan Trial Court (MeTC) Judge Allan B. Ariola of Branch 48 on October 2, 2018, due to a case of slight physical injuries.

However, Diwata was immediately released after posting bail amounting to P3,000. Meanwhile, netizens gave mixed reactions to the arrest of the viral street food vendor.

Just this past week, Diwata went viral again after complaints were lodged against his property for causing heavy traffic on the road leading to the Senate building. Authorities conducted an inspection and discovered that his eatery in Preston lacked the necessary permits, leading to its operation being halted.

When Diwata appealed to City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, he was granted permission to resume operations but was required to obtain permits within two months.

Previously, Coco Martin’s camp announced Diwata as a new cast member of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” He will portray the character Frida. Coco expressed delight over the inclusion of the social media star, especially since his eatery gained significant attention and went viral.
