People Should Stop Calling ‘Sorbetes’ Dirty Ice Cream, According to Businessman

A businessman has stated that people should refrain from calling ‘Sorbetes’ dirty ice cream and has expressed his desire to rebrand the term.

Marlon Canaway, the 50-year-old owner of Six Angels Ice Cream Shop in Mandaluyong City, believes that it’s time to drop the misleading label. He emphasizes the cleanliness of their ice cream.

The entrepreneur explained that their priority is ensuring cleanliness because their customers include their own family and the public. His journey to success was not easy.

Yung ating ice cream ay napakalinis naman talaga. Kasi tinitiyak natin ang kalinisan, kasi unang-una, ang kumakain po niyan ay mga anak ko, pamilya ko at publiko. At saka siyempre ayaw naman din natin gumawa ng hindi malinis kasi kapag nagkaroon ng problema sa labas, e tayo rin ang mamo-mroblema diyan, tayo rin ang sasagot, tayo rin ang masisira sa tao. Kaya dapat ang ating pagkain ay malinis talaga,” said Canaway.

Canaway started making ice cream in Masbate province. Due to hardship, he moved to Manila and met someone selling ice cream. He started selling ice cream until he learned how to make it.

“Ang simula ko sa ice cream, simula sa probinsya. Siyempre dala ng kahirapan napadpad ako ng Maynila, tapos may nakilala akong nagtitinda ng ice cream. Nagtinda po ako ng ice cream, hanggang sa natutunan ko ang paraan ng paggawa, paano gawin itong ice cream,” he explained.

After completing his studies, he worked as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) abroad before starting his backyard traditional ice cream manufacturing shop. Now, his brand ‘Six Angels Ice Cream Shop’ has become popular in Mandaluyong and San Juan.

The inspiration behind Canaway’s ice cream house’s name comes from his six children. He now operates 14 carts, bringing joy to the community with every scoop.

The businessman explained that his ice cream business not only provides for his family but also brings relief to everyone in the community amid the scorching summer heat.

The brand owner also shares some business secrets for success, emphasizing the importance of making everyone involved, from production to sales, happy.

“Sa ngayon, mataas ang kita ng negosyo kasi mainit talaga kaya kumikita kami, kumikita ang mga sorbetero ko. Lahat kami masaya,” he added.
