In Cavite, a single mom transformed her home into an animal shelter
ARIZZA DUNGCA – A single mother from General Trias, Cavite, has transformed her home into a shelter for rescued animals.
Known as The Cat House, her shelter provides refuge for over 200 animals, including cats, dogs, and even a wild boar. This inspiring project began in 2019, long before the pandemic, driven by Arizza’s deep care for animals in distress.
The Cat House gained attention on social media and was featured on ABS-CBN’s “Tao Po” program on March 16, 2024. Arizza’s commitment to her cause is impressive, as she has turned her own house into a sanctuary for animals. Despite the challenges of running such a shelter, including the costs of food and care, Arizza, along with her child and two helpers, manages it with dedication.
Arizza’s love for animals comes from her upbringing, where her parents taught her to be compassionate and responsible towards animals. Despite their struggles, her parents always made sure to care for stray animals, setting an example for Arizza. These experiences shaped her passion for animal welfare.
The Cat House not only provides shelter but also educates people about spaying and neutering pets. Arizza believes that teaching responsible pet ownership is vital to addressing animal abandonment and overpopulation. Through her shelter, she aims to foster empathy and compassion for animals.
Running The Cat House is challenging, requiring both money and help. However, Arizza remains committed to giving abandoned and abused animals a safe place. Despite the growing number of animals she cares for, she is determined to ensure their well-being.
Despite the difficulties, Arizza finds joy in seeing the animals happy and safe at her shelter. Her dedication has earned her the support of many who share her passion for animal welfare. For those who want to help, The Cat House’s Facebook page is a way to contribute to Arizza’s noble cause.
