Senator Robin Padilla Appeals for Fair Treatment of Quiboloy

Robin Padilla’s Plea for Quiboloy

ROBIN PADILLA and QUIBOLOY – The senator requested consideration for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder against the contempt order issued by the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality.

In his privilege speech on Monday, Padilla also requested that a Show Cause Order be issued to Quiboloy at the next committee hearing for reasons of safety and his contribution to society. “Bilang pangwakas po, nais ko pong ihayag sa opisyal na rekord ang ating kahilingan: ang mabigyan po ng konsiderasyon ang hiling ni Pastor laban sa contempt order..at mabigyan ng daan ang pagpapalabas po ng Show Cause Order kay Pastor sa susunod na pagdinig,” said Padilla.

According to Padilla, Quiboloy has made significant contributions in combating the threat of the New People’s Army (NPA) through his media outlet, Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI). There are alleged threats to Quiboloy’s personal safety, so he needs to be cautious when appearing in public. Additionally, the United States has announced charges against him.

Padilla emphasized the need for fair treatment for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, stressing that it’s not about a trade-off but about acknowledging his valuable contributions to the country. He clarified that Quiboloy isn’t avoiding addressing allegations but simply wants a fair hearing in the right place to ensure his rights to fairness and proper procedure are respected.

Padilla also mentioned that Quiboloy helped combat the threat of the NPA through the SMNI network by airing the movie ‘Memoirs of a Teenage Rebel’ to convey a message to youth who are targeted to join armed struggle. Because of SMNI’s support, the senator said many rebels have surrendered. He added that SMNI supported the whole-of-government approach against insurgency promoted by the NTF-ELCAC.
