Rat Spotted Wandering Around NAIA

After bed bugs, a rat was spotted wandering within the premises of NAIA

NAIA – A rat was spotted wandering around Ninoy Aquino International Airport, as captured in a post by @Curve251.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is the primary international gateway serving Metro Manila and the surrounding areas in the Philippines. Named after Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., a prominent opposition leader during the martial law era, the airport is located in Pasay City and Parañaque City.

NAIA consists of four terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 (also known as the Centennial Terminal), Terminal 3, and Terminal 4 (also known as the Domestic Terminal). It handles both domestic and international flights, serving as a hub for various airlines and facilitating air travel to and from the Philippines.

Despite its strategic importance, the country’s gateway has faced numerous challenges over the years, including congestion issues, infrastructure deficiencies, and reputation problems, leading to efforts for improvement and rehabilitation under various initiatives and management changes.

NAIA added another lowlight to its checkered reputation as passengers reported being bitten by bed bugs in Terminals 2 and 3. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has already taken actions regarding the incident, while also apologizing to the victims of the bed bugs.

Meanwhile, aside from the bed bugs, another pest was sighted within the premises of NAIA. In a now-viral video, a rat was spotted wandering around the airport. In the video posted by @Curve251, it shows the rat strolling around the international departure area.

“Hello NAIA, una surot, ngayon naman may daga sa international departure? Yung totoo?!?!” wrote Twitter user @Curve251 in the caption of his post.

Netizens expressed disgust at the sight, with some questioning the cleanliness of NAIA and where the travel tax paid at the airport is allocated. There were also concerns about the potential increase in pests if the issue is not addressed by NAIA’s maintenance/utility staff.
