Motorcycle Rider Who Stabbed the Front Wheel Tire of a Delivery Van Gets SCO From LTO

LTO issues SCO against the owner of a motorcycle in viral stabbing of front wheel tire of a delivery van

ROAD RAGE – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order against the owner of a motorcycle involved in the viral stabbing of the front wheel tire of a delivery van in Quezon City.

Due to the incident, the agency may suspend the driver’s license of the said rider. The show cause order issued by LTO was signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante. The rider was identified through the plate number of his motorcycle, as seen in the video.

The LTO has instructed the said rider to appear at the LTO Main Office on Monday, March 25, to explain. “Due to the gravity/severity of the acts of the rider, please be informed that the motorcycle with plate number 851QBN will be temporarily placed under alarm preventing any and all transactions while the case is under investigation,” the agency noted.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II explained that the show cause order should serve as a reminder to motorists to avoid being aggressive on the road. “Marami na tayong naparusahan dahil sa road rage at muli ay pinapaalalahanan natin ang ating mga kababayan motorista na iwasan ito dahil kayo din ang malalagay sa alanganin,” the official said.

In the video, it can be seen that the rider and the van driver were arguing until the former pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the vehicle’s front tire before fleeing.

Meanwhile, to avoid road rage, it’s crucial to maintain a patient and empathetic mindset while driving responsibly. This involves staying calm, planning ahead for potential delays, and refraining from aggressive driving behaviors. Practicing empathy towards other drivers and effectively communicating intentions on the road are also important. Taking breaks, listening to soothing music, and seeking alternative routes can help manage stress. Regular self-reflection on driving behavior is key to preventing frustration and contributing to a safer driving environment overall.
