IVANA ALAWI – The emotional scene of Jaclyn Jose and Ivana Alawi on Batang Quiapo gains widespread attention on social media.
Jaclyn Jose, aged 60, passed away from a heart attack on March 2. Known for her role as Chief Dolores Espinas in the series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ she is in charge of the prison where Coco Martin’s character, Tanggol, was incarcerated.
Coco delivered a eulogy during Jaclyn’s funeral at Arlington Memorial Chapel in Araneta, Quezon City, on March 5, 2024. In the eulogy, the prominent actor shared his premonition about Jaclyn’s demise.
The last encounter between Coco Martin and Jaclyn Jose occurred on February 28, 2024, during the taping of ‘Batang Quiapo.’ Coco recounted an unexpected emotional moment involving Jaclyn during a scene with Ivana Alawi’s character, Bubbles. Jaclyn’s uncharacteristic display of sadness caught the director off guard.
“Noong last taping namin doon sa [barracks], actually meron kami napapansin sa kanya na hindi namin inaasahan,” Coco said.
Coco explained that the scene involved Bubbles (Ivana Alawi) being set free, but Jaclyn’s character Chief Dolores Espinas was not supposed to be sad.
“Nagulat sa kanya yung director namin, ‘Bakit naiiyak si Mommy Jane sa eksena na hindi naman dapat? Parang out of character yung binibigay niya,’” said Coco.
Recently, ABS-CBN aired an episode of ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ that resonated with viewers. The sequence highlighted the characters played by Ivana Alawi and Jaclyn Jose, depicting Chief Dolores Espinas sharing uplifting news with Bubbles about her impending parole.
