Boy Abunda: “I’m choosing to shut up”
BOY ABUNDA – Here’s what the King of Talk said when he was asked what he thought of Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque’s breakup statement.
To recall, Bea and Dominic released a joint statement on Sunday, February 11, 2024, confirming that they have broken up. The two explained that it wasn’t an easy decision and they also asked for privacy.
Bea and Dominic even expressed disappointment in other people for breaking the news “without our consent”. Netizens then assumed that the couple were alluding to Tito Boy, who broke the news about their breakup last week.
The veteran host, who renewed his contract with GMA Network on Monday, was asked what he thought of the couple’s statement.
In a report on GMA News Online, he said at the sidelines of his contract renewal with GMA Network that there’s a time to speak and also a time to shut up. Tito Boy also acknowledged that there’s so much pain being experienced by the parties involved, adding that it deserves much “respect”.
“Ganito ang posisyon ko. I promised myself and I promise my concerned friends and good sources that for now I’m not going to comment. There’s so much pain that’s being experienced by the parties involved and even pain deserves respect. But is it tantamount that I’m not going to make a comment? No,” he said in an interview with GMA Network. “There’s a time to speak and there’s a time to shut up. Right at this moment, I’m choosing to shut up. But not for long.”

Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque started dating in January 2021 and the actress confirmed their relationship in August that year. They got engaged in July 2023 and are supposed to get married this year.
It can be recalled that Tito Boy confirmed their breakup in an episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” aired last February 6, 2024. The veteran host was able to quickly remind the public that speculations are dangerous and also asked them to be a little kinder with their words, before Bea and Dominic could issue their official statement, which they did on Sunday.
