Before Ronaldo Valdez passed away, Janno Gibbs had last moments with his dad
JANNO GIBBS – The actor-turned-director shared the final moments he spent with his father, the late veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, before his passing.
In a media conference on January 15, 2023, Janno expressed the difficulty of witnessing such a scene and emphasized the need for privacy and respect in reporting such events. He revealed that only a few people, including himself, the driver, the household help, and his wife Bing Loyzaga, saw the state of his father during the incident.
Janno described the traumatic experience and how he stayed with his father for about ten to fifteen minutes before the arrival of the ambulance and police. He explained that he spoke to his father, even though the latter had lost consciousness but was still breathing. Bing Loyzaga briefly went upstairs because she couldn’t bear the situation.
After his father’s passing, Janno discussed the emotional toll and revealed that he hasn’t consulted with a psychiatrist yet but plans to do so. He mentioned that being with his father every day helped him cope better, and he expressed his love for his father through texts and messages.
The actor-director also shared details about his film “Itutumba Ka Ng Tatay Ko,” set to release on January 24, 2023. The movie features Ronaldo Valdez in a special participation, and Janno directed his father for the first and last time. Janno fondly recalled a memorable moment during the filming, where he modified the dialogue for a dramatic scene, and his father praised his skills.
Amid these personal challenges, Janno Gibbs continued to work on projects, including another movie featuring Ronaldo Valdez and “Beks Battalion.” Despite the difficult circumstances, Janno emphasized his dedication to his work and the support of his family during this trying time.
