Gretchen Barretto is a former actress and socialite who gained fame in the late 1980s through successful films produced by Seiko Films, such as “Tukso, Layuan Mo Ako!,” “Ang Bukas Ay Akin,” and “Bakit Ako Mahihiya?”. Despite being initially launched as a singer-actress, she never had the opportunity to record a studio album due to her busy acting career.
Barretto is the sister of Marjorie and Claudine, who are also actresses. She has a child with Antonio “Tonyboy” Cojuangco Jr., her common-law partner.
On the other hand, Atong Ang, whose real name is Charles Tiu Hay Sy Ang, is a Filipino-Chinese gambling operator and gaming tycoon. He gained public attention in 2001 when he was co-accused in the impeachment trial of former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada. After Erap’s impeachment, Atong flew to the U.S., where he was caught and arrested by U.S. authorities while gambling in Las Vegas. He was placed under house arrest and extradited to the Philippines in 2006.
Atong Ang’s name became widely discussed in connection with the Barretto sisters’ controversy, particularly after Nicole Barretto accused her aunt, Gretchen Barretto, of stealing Atong from her. Atong clarified that Gretchen and her husband, Tonyboy Cojuangco, were his business partners in the casino and cockfighting industries.
Atong emphasized that he is happily married and denied any involvement or affairs with any of the Barrettos. He values his family life and expressed happiness with his wife and children, stating that he would not jeopardize his family for any controversies.
The two are currently making rounds online after being spotted together at a cellphone stall. In a video, Gretchen can be seen waving while Atong is checking gadgets.

Meanwhile, Atong Ang explained that he often accompanies Gretchen in public or on flights because Tony Boy and Gretchen avoid taking the same flight due to safety concerns, ensuring that one parent is available for their daughter, Dominique, in case of an unfortunate event.
