Bato dela Rosa: “Pakantahin natin ng 1,000 times ng Bayang Magiliw para matuto silang magmahal ng bansa”
BAYANG MAGILIW – Netizens criticized Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa after he made a mistake regarding the title of the national anthem, “Lupang Hinirang.”
In a statement, the senator suggested that Filipinos supporting the International Criminal Court (ICC) should be made to sing “Bayang Magiliw” a thousand times, claiming that those siding with the ICC do not love the country.
In an interview with ANC on Wednesday, Dela Rosa expressed his confusion about Filipinos who want to surrender the country’s sovereignty to foreign bodies and disrespect the courts. He questioned why these individuals think that way and suggested that they should sing “Bayang Magiliw” a thousand times to learn to love the country.
“Ewan ko bakit itong mga bleeding hearts na gustong-gustong i-surrender ang ating sovereignty doon sa foreign bodies. Hindi sila nagmamahal sa ating bansa — they do not love this country. Gustong-gusto nilang i-surrender at gustong-gusto nilang babastusin ang ating mga korte,” he said.
“Bakit naman ganu’n ang pag-iisip natin? I don’t know this kind of Filipinos. Siguro dapat ang mga Pilipino na ito dapat ay pakantahin natin ng 1,000 times ng Bayang Magiliw para matuto silang magmahal ng bansa,” he added.
Some netizens reacted angrily, pointing out the senator’s mistake in referring to the national anthem as “Bayang Magiliw” instead of “Lupang Hinirang.” They criticized him for not knowing the correct title and expressed their disbelief that a senator could make such a mistake, especially after his previous controversial statement about the ICC.
“Thats LUPANG HINIRANG. why are you a filipino politician, can’t still get our national anthem’s title right???” one netizen commented as per TNT Abante. Another social media user wrote: “Lupang Hinirang po hindi bayang magiliw… Bugok!”
“How stupid is it for a senator not to know the title of our national anthem, Lupang Hinirang? After being embarrassed by his ICC statement to President Marcos Jr., what is this? I don’t think he deserves another shot as a senator. This is really embarrassing,” a netizen remarked.
