Funny Acceptance Speech of Melai Cantiveros at Asia Artist Awards 2023
MELAI CANTIVEROS – The host of ‘Magandang Buhay’ brought laughter with her humorous remarks as she accepted the Best Actor Award at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards held in the Philippine Arena.
Melai is an actress, comedian, and host who rose to fame when she won the reality show ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up’ in 2009. Since then, she has become one of ABS-CBN’s contract talents. Currently, she co-hosts the morning talk show ‘Magandang Buhay’ alongside Regine Velasquez and Jolina Magdangal.
She is married to Jason Francisco, and they have two daughters named Mela and Stella. Besides ‘PBB,’ she gained widespread recognition for winning the first season of the Filipino version of ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar’ in 2015.
Melai has also been part of various television shows such as ‘Banana Sundae,’ ‘ASAP,’ ‘Kris TV,’ and ‘I Dare You.’ Additionally, she has ventured into acting, appearing in films like ‘The Adventures of Pureza, Queen of the Riles’ and ‘You’re Still The One.’
Throughout her career, Melai Cantiveros has received several awards, including the ASAP POP Viewers’ Choice Awards, Cosmopolitan Awards, and the PMPC Star Awards for Television. Notably, in 2023, she won the Best Actor Award at the Asia Artist Awards for her role in ‘Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul.’

Wearing an expansive pink gown, the ‘Magandang Buhay’ host took the AAA stage and joked, “If someone (questions) why I have (an) award, don’t worry. I question too. I just receive an award all my life from my mother and father when they are angry to me. Tonight, my heart is kuan. I think it’s because God moves in mysterious ways,” she quipped during her acceptance speech.
Melai received applause, with even SB19 appearing on the screen and enjoying her humorous remarks.
