Direk Cathy Garcia-Sampana Addresses Alleged Unfollowing of Daniel Padilla on IG
CATHY GARCIA-SAMPANA – The box-office director denied unfollowing actor Daniel Padilla on Instagram amid rumors of a breakup between him and Kathryn Bernardo.
On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, some netizens noticed that Daniel is no longer included in the following list of Director Cathy’s Instagram account, while Kathryn continues to be followed by the director. However, upon analyzing Daniel’s Instagram account, it can be deduced that he still follows Director Cathy.
Because of this, netizens made assumptions about why the director seemed to have unfollowed Daniel on the social media platform. Others found it puzzling, especially considering the close working relationship between Director Cathy, Daniel, and Kathryn, who collaborated on five projects.
Director Cathy helmed three teleseryes for KathNiel on ABS-CBN—Got to Believe (2013), Pangako Sa ‘Yo (2015), and La Luna Sangre (2017)—as well as two box-office films, She’s Dating The Gangster (2014) and The Hows of Us (2018).
On Wednesday, November 22, she took to Instagram where she broke her silence to clarify that she did not unfollow Daniel. She posted screenshots from netizens showing that Daniel’s IG account did not appear in her following list when they searched for it.
According to the director, Daniel won’t really be found in her following list because she never followed the actor in the first place. She added a plea not to involve her in the issue, stating that she has no knowledge of the controversy between Daniel and Kathryn.
As stated in Director Cathy’s caption (published as is): “Mga bakla huwag niyo na po ako idamay dito. Wala talaga kayong makikitang supremo dj sa followed ko kasi hindi ko naman siya fina-follow noon pa. Di ko alam totoong account niya kasi. 20 nga lang fina follow ko e. Noon pa. Kaya Huwag na po nating gawing issue. Wala nga akong alam inangkupo.”
