Rayver Cruz: “Para sa akin, everything happens for a reason”
RAYVER CRUZ – Here’s what the actor said when he was asked if proposing to Julie Anne San Jose while they’re in Israel crossed his mind.
The celebrity couple were in Tel Aviv when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. They were supposed to perform that very evening at the Smolarz Auditorium in Tel Aviv University in Israel.
Rayver and Julie Anne appeared on Friday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” where they looked back on their short time in Israel.
In an interview with talk show host Boy Abunda, Rayver shared that he and Julie Anne arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel on October 3 and quickly explored the Holy Land and its many sites. It was their first time in Israel after all, and they were together.
Among the places they visited were Bethlehem, the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan River.
Julie Anne, for her part, shared that she, Rayver, and Boobay were in Israel because they’re supposed to perform at their show called “Luv Trip Na, Laff Trip Pa”. She added that the show has been scheduled for a long time and so they’re very excited about it.
Their show “Luv Trip Na, Laff Trip Pa” was supposedly scheduled for the evening of October 7 at the Smolarz Auditorium at Tel Aviv University in Israel, but the conflict started at the morning. At that time, the celebrity couple was resting and recharging until their managers woke them up.
Rayver shared that their managers didn’t know how to wake them up to tell them to get moving because there was war already. The actor also said that they started hearing sirens and in one minute, they were supposed to enter the reinforced room that was like a bunker.
For her part, Julie Anne said that the bunker was located on the second floor of their building.
They had a total of 3 trips from their rooms to the bunker and they were clueless about what was going on the whole time as they’re relying only on their fans’ messages on social media.
Rayver then admitted to feeling panicked on their third trip, when they heard the loudest bang, saying that the lights moved and it sounded very near to them at that time. One of the things he feared the most was the possibility of the forces infiltrating the border.
At one point, the talk show host asked Rayver if proposing to his girlfriend crossed his mind at that moment.
The actor shared that everything happens for a reason. According to him, his glimmer of hope and his strength comes from her and he was thinking that there must be a reason why they were together at the Holy Land.
Julie Anne was visibly touched by her boyfriend’s words, but she laughed out loud when Rayver cracked a joke to end his serious statement.
“Para sa akin, yung glimmer of hope ko, yung lakas ng loob, nanggagaling kay Julie. Iniisip ko, may reason kung bakit si Julie, magkasama kami sa Holy Land, and for me, mind, body and soul, kasal na ko sa kanya,” he told the King of Talk. “Pero alam ng Panginoong Diyos na makakauwi kami, may chance pa kami kunin ka as ninong.”
Rayver, Julie Anne, and Boobay were able to safely land back home on October 9.
