Moira Dela Torre has ADHD

MOIRA DELA TORRE – The singer revealed that she has been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition characterized by ongoing patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity, which can interfere with daily functioning. Inattention symptoms include difficulty staying on task and organizing activities. Hyperactivity symptoms involve excessive movement and restlessness, while impulsivity leads to acting without thinking and difficulty with self-control. ADHD can manifest with predominantly inattentive or hyperactive-impulsive symptoms, or a combination of both.

Diagnosing ADHD requires chronic and impairing symptoms, and it can be diagnosed in children or adults. ADHD symptoms may change with age, with hyperactivity being more common in children and inattention becoming prominent in adolescence and adulthood. The exact cause is uncertain but is believed to involve genetics and environmental factors.

Treatment options include medication (stimulants and non-stimulants) and psychotherapy (behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy). Management strategies involve routine, organization, clear rules, and social skills training. ADHD can co-occur with other conditions like anxiety, depression, and learning disabilities. Clinical trials and research studies provide ongoing opportunities for advancement in ADHD treatment and understanding.
