Blood leeches, scientifically known as Hirudinea, are long-lived creatures of our planet, dating back to the earliest days of life on Earth. These annelid worms have evolved over millions of years, adapting to varied aquatic environments ranging from freshwater streams and ponds to wet terrestrial habitats.
While some leeches are carnivorous, preying on smaller insects, blood-feeding leeches have captured the human imagination and even caused shudders.
Recently, a Facebook user named Lester Samson has shared the hilarious photos of his tearful guest as she encounters blood leeches or “limatik” during a hiking expedition on the renowned Mt. Makiling.

In the photos, the female tourist gets emotional and bursts into tears out of fear as blood leeches infested her hand. Samson teases her and joked the he will not remove those creatures from her.
The tourist’s experience shows the spirit of adventure that often accompanies outdoor excursions. While the presence of blood leeches might have added an unexpected twist to her travel experience but it became a memorable one.
