Some owners of Geely voiced their complaints due to defects in their months-old vehicles
GEELY – Some owners of China-manufactured cars have turned to social media to voice their complaints about their vehicles, which are only a few months old, and are experiencing issues ranging from engine malfunctions to paint imperfections.
On Facebook, a netizen named Jolo Monton shared his experience of buying a Geely car from a dealership in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. To their dismay, they discovered that their supposedly “brand new” Emgrand Premium unit had noticeable scratches and signs of repainting.
Although not well-versed in cars, Monton’s suspicions were confirmed when he took the car to Geely’s authorized detailer for a promised free ceramic coating. Several detailers concurred that the car had been repainted due to evident problems such as pinholes, buffing marks, and compounds. Monton is currently collaborating with Geely PH, DTI, and PSBank to investigate and request a replacement for the unit they believe should have been new. They are refraining from using the car during the investigation.
James Afante, another Geely owner, shared a similarly disheartening experience. Within a year of purchase, his Coolray model began encountering sudden power loss. Despite a repair at a Geely casa, the issue persisted and ultimately led to a complete car shutdown due to a fuel pump failure that also damaged connected wiring. Afante left his car at the casa for four months of repairs, only to find it ignored, exposed to sunlight, and filled with junk food and drinks.
According to Bilyonaryo, when Afante attempted to express his concerns, the dealership appeared to prioritize new sales over addressing the concerns of existing customers. Their responsiveness and attention to his product-related problems were lacking.
In both cases, Geely customers are grappling with frustrating experiences involving their recently acquired vehicles, encompassing issues spanning from subpar paint quality to significant mechanical breakdowns. These incidents underscore the difficulties certain customers face when seeking appropriate resolutions and attention from both the manufacturer and dealerships.
