Daughters of Melai Cantiveros lectured by netizens
MELA AND STELA – The daughters of Melai Cantiveros received a sermon from netizens for calling their mother “mukhang unggoy.”
Melai Cantiveros and her daughters, Mela and Stela, have always been popular for their humor and naturally funny personalities, bringing laughter to netizens. However, on August 5, 2023, Melai’s children faced criticism from netizens after they made a joke about their mother’s appearance in a video.
In the video uploaded by Melai, Mela was seen talking about the beauty products her mother buys. She jokingly remarked, “Guys, nagbibili pa rin si Mama ng mga products, beauty products, pero mukha pa rin siyang unggoy.” Stela, Melai’s other child, also chimed in from the background, calling her mother ‘unggoy.’
Some netizens felt that Mela and Stela crossed the line by making fun of their own mother’s appearance. They expressed concern that Melai should have taught her children proper manners, as such behavior might persist as they grow older.
One netizen, Rio, commented that this might be the result of a parenting style that treats children more like friends, leading to a lack of boundaries and control. Other netizens namely Marian and Gie, called the children of Melai disrespectful. They are also worried about how their attitude might affect their interactions with others.
As of now, Melai has not responded to the criticisms her children have been receiving from the netizens. It remains to be seen how she addresses the situation and imparts important lessons to her daughters about respect and sensitivity.
