In Tondo, a pregnant woman was shot dead
SHOT DEAD – A pregnant woman was killed in Tondo, Manila after being shot in the early hours of Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
The victim, identified as Diane Erica Prado, 24 years old, was reportedly rushed to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries due to a gunshot wound to the head. CCTV footage captured Prado walking past 1 a.m., a few minutes before she was shot. The footage also showed people running and the victim’s father, Joselito Prado Sr., arriving at the scene.
“Nalaman ko lang kasi may gumising sa akin, ‘yung anak ko raw nakabulagta sa gitna kaya pinuntahan ko,” said Joselito claiming that his daughter was still alive when he found her.
According to relatives, Prado was two months pregnant. They claimed they couldn’t think of any possible motive for the crime. Joselito said he managed to ask his daughter who the culprit was, but she was unable to respond.
A friend who was with the victim said they were heading home after eating out when the shooting occurred. The friend mentioned that a man wearing a helmet shot Prado and she didn’t see his face. “Sana mabigyan ng hustisya ‘yung nangyari sa kaibigan ko,” said Prado’s friend.
Meanwhile, Joselito appealed to the suspect to surrender. According to the police, they are currently pursuing four persons of interest in connection with the shooting.
In another incident that took place in Tondo a few hours later, a man identified as Juanito Palisoc, also known as Junior, was killed in a shooting. According to a witness, Palisoc was on his way home from a store when he was followed by two men. They heard multiple gunshots, and Palisoc was pronounced dead at the scene. The police are investigating whether the two shooting incidents are connected.
