Showbiz reporter Mario Dumaual dies

MARIO DUMAUAL – The veteran showbiz reporter who works for ABS-CBN has passed away at the age of 64.

His passing was first announced by talent manager Wilbert Tolentino. In a Facebook post, he noted: “I am very saddened with the passing of one of the pillars in entertainment journalism in the country, Tito Mario Dumaual. Thank you for the coverage of every pageant stories related to me and to my queens and kings, many times. From my pageant journey to Mr. Gay World Philippines and my Herlene’s journey to Bb. Pilipinas.”

Actress Dianne Medina, the wife of Rodjun Cruz, also paid tribute to the “Star Patroller”. She wrote: “RIP Tito Mario Dumaual (emoji) Mamimiss kita sa mga events tito dahil lagi tayong nagkakasabay sa mga events and coverage tapos magkkwentuhan tayo lagi.”

Singer Jed Madela took to Twitter to pay his respect for the showbiz reporter. In a tweet, he said: “Rest in peace, Sir Mario Dumaual. (praying hands emojis) You we’re always present in all my career milestones. Rest now…”

Earlier, friends and colleagues of the showbiz reporter took to social media to seek financial assistance for Mario Dumaual, who had experienced a cardiac arrest, been diagnosed with a fungal infection, and had been in the ICU fighting to regain his health.

The post mentioned that Mario’s condition was critical, requiring intensive medical care. It stated that he had undergone dialysis and received medication for his infection, heart rate, blood pressure, and other issues. To aid his breathing, he remained on non-invasive ventilation.
