HERLENE BUDOL – The actress-beauty queen caught the attention of the beauty pageant community when she directed a message to Nawat Itsaragrisil, the founder of Miss Grand International.
Herlene Nicole Policarpio Budol, also known as “Hipon Girl,” is a multi-talented personality with a diverse career spanning comedy, modeling, acting, beauty pageants, and vlogging. She gained prominence as a co-host on the popular Philippine variety game show Wowowin. Her comedic talent and witty jokes caught the attention of host Willie Revillame, who made her a regular co-host on the show.
Herlene made her television drama debut on Magpakailanman in November 2019, portraying the role of Jenny, an overseas Filipino worker, in the episode titled “Yaya Dubai & I.”
Last year, she joined Binibining Pilipinas finishing as the 1st runner-up. As a result, she earned the opportunity to represent the Philippines in Miss Planet International 2022. However, she decided to withdraw from the competition.
Presently, she is participating in Miss Grand Philippines 2023, but her journey became controversial due to her response during the pageant’s interview question in June.
In her recent Instagram post, Herlene raised eyebrows among some netizens with her subtle request for Nawat to crown her. She introduced herself as Budolerang Hipon and expressed her belief that this could be the best time for the Philippines. Herlene promised not to deceive Nawat, asserting that she would not betray him. She also mentioned her age and referenced her grandmother’s ability to cast spells, playfully indicating that her grandmother was watching over Nawat. She ended her message with a playful request to be crowned.
Apparently, some pageant fans were displeased with Herlene’s statement, accusing her of attempting to gain an unfair advantage over other contestants by using her connections.
