Melissa Ricks: “My second childbirth was a little bit more traumatic.”
MELISSA RICKS – After giving birth to baby Mikaela earlier this year, the former actress looked back on her second birthing experience.
It was last January 2023 when Melissa Ricks and her husband Michael Macatangay welcomed their first child together. The former actress also has another child who she shares with her former partner Charles Togezaki.
Melissa and Michael got married in California last May 2021.
Sharing a video on her social media account, she said that her second birthing experience was “a little bit more traumatic” as she was terrified on her second childbirth and labor was “super intence.”
The former actress also said that it was completely different from her first birthing experience even though she had the same doctor and hospital, adding that they had to stay for 10 hours in the recovery room because all rooms in the hospital were occupied at that time.
She also shared how scared she was for Mika after her doctor advised them to stay in the hospital for a few more days because of her condition.

Melissa then shared that doctors explained to her and her partner that the blood type was different from hers, causing her daughter’s Bilirubin levels to be “dangerously high”.
The former actress went on to share that she’s with her child throughout the therapy and it made her emotional. Fortunately, she and her daughter made it through.
“Barely any sleep since I didn’t want to drop her, night and day under the Photolight therapy machine, with no air conditioning,” she said. “It was so hard and lots of tears from this momma, we made it through. We are stronger than we think Mommas.”
