The Marikina Shoemasters head coach is facing extensive backlash on social media following an incident that took place during their Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League game on Tuesday night. A video captured the coach, Elvis Tolentino, physically striking one of his players in the chest, which has ignited outrage among internet users.

It happened during a timeout with only 14 seconds remaining in the game. As the Marikina Shoemasters were trailing behind Pasig City MCW Sports, Tolentino, visibly furious, approached his point guard, Felipe Chavez, and began shouting at him.

He then proceeded to grab him by the back of his jersey multiple times. The aggressive nature of these actions even astonished some players from the opposing Pasig City team.
