RENDON LABADOR – The controversial social media personality reacted to the treatment of MPBL coach Elvis Tolentino to one of his players.
The Marikina Shoemasters head coach is facing extensive backlash on social media following an incident that took place during their Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League game on Tuesday night. A video captured the coach, Elvis Tolentino, physically striking one of his players in the chest, which has ignited outrage among internet users.
It happened during a timeout with only 14 seconds remaining in the game. As the Marikina Shoemasters were trailing behind Pasig City MCW Sports, Tolentino, visibly furious, approached his point guard, Felipe Chavez, and began shouting at him.
Elvis Tolentino, who also holds a position as a councilor in Marikina City, can be observed delivering a forceful punch with a closed fist to Chavez’s chest. He then proceeded to grab him by the back of his jersey multiple times. The aggressive nature of these actions even astonished some players from the opposing Pasig City team.
The viral video clip has generated anger and disapproval among numerous individuals on social media, who are expressing their disappointment and condemnation of Tolentino’s behavior. The Marikina head coach’s actions have received widespread criticism, with netizens sharing various comments expressing their concerns.
Among those who reacted to the incident is motivational speaker, Rendon Labador. In a Facebook post, he called out Flores for disrespecting the player. “Elvis Flores Tolentino huwag mo sana isisi ang katangahan mong mag coach sa mga players. RESPETO SA MGA ATLETA!!!” he noted.
