Will ‘Iskul Bukol’ and ‘Wow Mali’ make a comeback?
TVJ PRODUCTIONS – The classic television shows, such as ‘Wow Mali’ and ‘Iskul Bukol,’ may potentially make a comeback on TV5 under the production company of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.
In a media conference for TVJ’s new show, Jane Basas, the president and CEO of TV5’s Mediaquest, mentioned that they are actively working on convincing TVJ to revive ‘Iskul Bukol’ (1978-1988), a sitcom centered around the Escalera brothers, Tito, Vic, and Joey Ungasis.
On the other hand, ‘Wow Mali,’ a popular comedy gag show led by Joey de Leon, which gained fame for its timeless pranks that continue to go viral even today, will feature new cast members Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.
Basas stated, “We’re actually re-launching ‘Wow Mali’ very soon. Nilalambing namin sila for ‘Iskul Bukol’, so meron pong pag-uusap na ganoon. But in the context of the shared agreement today, ang pinaka-importanteng araw po was actually May 31, and this is when we received a formal letter kung open kami for discussion. In addition to these two shows, TV5 and TVJ productions are also discussing the possibility of creating new programs. With TVJ having their own production company now, they enjoy greater creative freedom in developing their shows. Furthermore, they potentially earn more revenue as they have taken ownership of their show productions.
Tito Sotto revealed that the TVJ production company was established after their departure from TAPE Inc. on May 31, 2023. TVJ’s production company will also oversee the upcoming noontime show featuring Tito, Vic, and Joey on TV5.
