Isko Moreno Opens up About Sending a Message to TVJ Before Joining ‘Eat Bulaga!’

Isko Moreno on TVJ: “Nagpaabiso naman ako in advance as a matter of respect”

ISKO MORENO – The former Manila Mayor revealed sending a message to Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, the iconic TVJ trio before joining the noontime show, Eat Bulaga! In an interview, Isko expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the challenge of following in the footsteps of the show’s previous hosts.

Isko revealed that he didn’t need to seek permission from Tito, Vic, and Joey before accepting the role but sent them a message out of respect. “Hindi naman, nagpaabiso naman ako in advance as a matter of respect, through a common friend,” he said.

Their response was positive, and Isko stressed the mutual respect they have for each other, recognizing their significant contributions to Filipino entertainment. “Wala naman, okay naman daw. Sabi ng kaibigan ko, okay lang,” he said.

Mayor Isko Moreno

Regarding the criticisms faced by Eat Bulaga! amidst the controversy between TAPE and TVJ, Isko acknowledged them but stated that work is work and people will always work when given the opportunity. He understood the adjustments that come with changes and expressed his belief that the show’s team is striving to create a good noontime show that entertains and helps the audience.

Isko Moreno’s participation in Eat Bulaga! marks his return to showbiz after serving as the mayor of Manila. He described it as a “homecoming” since he was trained by the late German Moreno, known as “Kuya Germs,” in hosting shows in the past. Isko recognized the need for improvement as he has been absent from hosting and live entertainment for over 24 years.
