Manny Pacquiao Ordered to Pay $5.1M After Losing in Lawsuit vs Paradigm Sports

Manny Pacquiao vs Paradigm Sports

MANNY PACQUIAO – A US jury has ordered the 8-division world champion to pay Paradigm Sports Management $5.1 million (approximately P282 million) in a civil lawsuit filed by PSM against the boxer.

The jury ruled in favor of PSM with a 9-3 verdict, stating that Pacquiao breached his contract with the management company when he concealed a pre-existing agreement with TGB Promotions, which hindered PSM’s ability to arrange a fight for him. The damages Pacquiao has been ordered to pay reportedly include $1.8 million in damages and the $3.3 million advance PSM gave him.

Pacquiao had entered into an agreement with PSM, with the initial plan to arrange a lucrative fight with Conor McGregor, but instead ended up facing Yordenis Ugas, which turned out to be his last pro fight. Pacquiao’s defense attorney claimed that PSM failed to live up to their commitments to the boxing star, but PSM countered by questioning Pacquiao’s credibility.

Pacquiao has not fought professionally since his loss to Ugas but did participate in an exhibition fight with Korean video blogger DK Yoo in December last year.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s camp has already issued a statement regarding the case. According to a statement made by Atty. Jason Aniel, who represents Pacquiao’s legal counsel in the US, there are still legal issues that need to be addressed by the court before the case is fully resolved.

Although a jury has ruled in favor of Paradigm Sports Management, a judgment has not yet been entered. Pacquiao stated that he cannot comment on the case while it is still pending, but he will discuss the matter after the final decision has been made.

On the other hand, Attar expressed his satisfaction with the jury’s decision and called out Pacquiao for allegedly testifying falsely and lacking honesty and integrity in his treatment of Paradigm. He expressed hope that Pacquiao would learn from the verdict and act with honesty and integrity in the future.
