On Monday, May 8, 2023, a man was successfully rescued after being trapped inside a “manhole” near a skywalk in Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla, located in southern Cebu. The incident was reported by Barangay Lipata Captain Lino Ong to the Minglanilla Command Center, who noticed a hand sticking out from the manhole. Mayor Rajiv Enad shared this information in a Facebook post.
Upon receiving the call, personnel from various departments including the Minglanilla Traffic Command, Task Force, Minglanilla Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Bureau of Fire Protection swiftly responded to the scene. They found the man inside the manhole and successfully rescued him at 9:15 a.m.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the man’s identity and the circumstances that led to him being in that area. The authorities are working to gather more information and understand the situation fully.
