He then responded to his “showbiz colleague” by telling him that he looked old, which was supposedly not taken lightly.

Bumped into a showbiz colleague from before. Small talk. He then casually said, ‘Tumaba ka ha (gained weight). I let it pass. I asked, ‘What do [you] do now?’ He said, ‘Oh, I’m retired already.’ My reply: ‘Oh, that’s why. You look old,’ to which he got shocked and upset,” he said in a statement posted on Instagram.

He even included the hashtags #clapback and #carefulwhatyousay in the caption of his social media post.

In the comments section of Janno’s post, Martin Nievera expressed how much he “hates” receiving comments about his weight as the singer pointed out that it’s a “tactless” observation.

Singer-songwriter Yayo Aguila, for her part, praised Janno on how he handled the remarks.

Janno is best known for his hit songs “Pinakamagandang Lalaki” and “Fallin’”, among many others. He previously made headlines for his response to a netizen who criticized him for appealing supporters of other politicians to let them “grieve” following the loss of former Vice President Leni Robredo in the 2022 elections.
