Darryl Yap Expresses Frustration with Architect Over Dream House

Darryl Yap airs dismay on architech of his dream house

DARRYL YAP – The director took to social media to express his frustration with the architect who designed his dream house.

In a post last April 14 titled: “MY BRUTALIST HOUSE UPDATE”, Yap revealed that the construction firms that were hired to build his dream house had almost completed the project, but there were still some details left to be finished.

But he couldn’t help to express his disappointment with his architect whom he called arrogant, deceitful, and opportunistic. He lamented that despite being smart and meticulous, he fell victim to an architect who lacked concern for his client’s welfare. He warned his fellow Filipinos to be wary of such architects and not to trust them easily.

According to Yap, the architect called his mother and asked her to take down his post. However, Yap refused to back down, saying that he had already invested too much time and money in the project to let the architect get away with shoddy work.

Yap claimed that he had discovered substandard materials used in his house, and he went on to list the problems he had encountered with the wiring, doors, staircase, flooring, mirrors, and sanitary fixtures. He claimed that the quality of his dream house had been compromised.

In his subsequent Facebook posts, Yap revealed that two construction firms from Olongapo were now working on his house. He shared the details of the ongoing construction work and expressed his doubts about whether the project would be finished to his satisfaction.

Yap also took issue with people who criticized his choice of house design, claiming that the brutalist style was too extreme. He explained that his house was constructed entirely of concrete and steel, without any hollow blocks, and that he was willing to accept any criticism except those that came from people who had no knowledge of architecture.

In response to Yap’s posts, the architect threatened to sue him for libel. However, Yap remained undeterred and continued to provide updates on the situation.
