Basketball Players Fight After College Basketball Game in Moalboal, Cebu

Basketball brawl in Moalboal, Cebu

BASKETBRAWL – Another fight broke out after a college basketball game in Moalboal in the southwestern part of the province just one day after a physical altercation among PBA players in a northern Cebu town.

Basketball players tend to fight for various reasons that can be categorized into personal disputes, emotional intensity, competitive rivalry, and frustration. Personal disputes may arise between players outside of the court and can escalate into physical altercations during the game. Additionally, the physical demands of the sport, combined with the intense emotions players experience during gameplay, can create a tense and sometimes volatile environment.

Competitive rivalries can also contribute to fights between players, as individual or team rivalries can generate a hostile atmosphere. Finally, frustration can be a significant factor in basketball brawls, as players may become upset with the game’s outcome, their performance, or the decisions made by referees. Regardless of the reasons, it’s important to note that fighting in basketball is not acceptable and can result in severe consequences for players involved, such as fines, suspensions, and even legal charges.

Speaking of which, another fight broke out after a college basketball game in Moalboal in the southwestern part of the province just one day after a physical altercation among PBA players in a northern Cebu town.

A video taken by a netizen, John Lester A. Tapales, has gone viral on social media, showing players from two local colleges engaged in a brawl after a game on Sunday, April 23. This incident follows the brawl that occurred on April 22 in Carmen town, which involved a foreign player and two PBA players, JR Quinahan and Beau Belga, during an exhibition match.

The Moalboal fight reportedly involved players from the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) and the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters. The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) is already investigating the incident since the tournament was sanctioned by the Cebu league in collaboration with the Moalboal local government unit.
