Salilig Case: Doctor Linked to Case Appears & Submits Affidavit

Update on Salilig Case Investigation of Medical Doctor Allegedly Present during Incident

SALILIG CASE – A medical doctor linked to the case appeared at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and submitted his affidavit.

The probe on the death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig is ongoing. Currently, at least seven (7) suspects are in the hands of the authorities but over 10 are still at large. The Salilig family is determined to seek justice over the death of the youngest among seven siblings.

John Matthew informed his older brother that he will be attending the welcoming rites of Tau Gamma Phi-Adamson Chapter. He is already a member of the Zamboanga chapter of the said fraternity group.

However, since that day that he left for the welcoming rites in Biñan, Laguna, he was not seen alive again nor anything was heard from him. After 10 days, his lifeless body was found buried in a shallow grave in Cavite.

In the latest hearing, one of the suspects in the Salilig case claimed that there was a doctor during the welcoming rites. According to him, the said doctor is a cousin of one of their brothers in the fraternity group.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) issued a subpoena to the doctor who was allegedly present during the hazing. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the said doctor recently appeared at the NBI and submitted his affidavit.

The doctor’s affidavit was submitted along with the screenshots of his conversation with “Lee” when he was at the house of “Scottie” in Parañaque. Based on the said conversation, the doctor was the one giving advises to his cousin on what to do since he’s pale. He advised him to elevate his legs and apply hot and cold compress alternately. He fetched him.

“When I arrived sa place sa Parañaque, wala akong nakitang kakaiba, wala akong nakitang katawan na nakahandusay. Kung may nakita tayo, we will give them the right medical assistance. Nandon daw ako sa place ng initiation pero wala naman,” the doctor said.

Reportedly, the doctor expressed his sympathy to the family of John Matthew Salilig. He claimed that there is no truth to the claim that he saw a person lying and hardly breathing.
