Among the possible damages that can occur when a cellphone is submerged in water are the following; short circuit, corrosion, speaker and microphone damage, battery damage and display damage.

Speaking of which, a high school teacher from Pampanga was heavily criticized after daring his student to submerge his cellphone in a pitcher of water to prove that his device is waterproof.

The teacher identifed as Edmon Montemayor, who’s also a vlogger, posted the video on his TikTok page and as of posting, it generated more than 5 million views.

The video earned the ire of netizens. Here are the comments:

Some netizens called the attention of the Department of Education (DepEd) to act on the matter. Others scold the teacher with some saying the cellphone should be replaced. As of posting, the education department as well as the high school teacher are yet to issue any statement.
