Periña uses his mother’s cellphone but it flickers when the battery heats up, and besides, they don’t have a stable internet connection.

But now, he will not have any difficulties upon attending his classes online after a professor from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines gave him a desktop with WiFi gadget.

PUP professor Engr. Rene Tanasas personally delivered the desktop package which include a Wi-Fi modem at Periña’s house in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

“Nanood ako ng TV Patrol sa Channel 2. Napanood ko ‘yung bata na in-interview na hirap sila sa online class kasi hindi naman lahat may gamit para magamit sa online class,” he said.

According to Tanasas via ABS-CBN News, the boy was really happy upon receiving the items.

“Noong nakita ko ‘yung bata, sobrang tuwa niya. Tumatalon-talon pa siya nang makita niyang sini-set-up namin ‘yung computer set,” ani Tanasas.

Meanwhile, classes opened in public schools on Monday. Offline and online learning methods are being observed, now that face-to-face classes have been suspended due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
