Anjo Yllana: “Nagmakaawa ako dito kasi wala akong trabaho”

ANJO YLLANA – The former Eat Bulaga host admits that he pleaded to the management of TV5 to give him a job.

Yllana began his showbiz career in 1984 with the help of talent manager Douglas Quijano. After acting in various supporting roles, he gained fame for his portrayal of a mentally disabled character in the sitcom “Abangan Ang Susunod Na Kabanata”.

He later became a solo comedian and starred in successful comedy films. Yllana also ventured into TV directing and politics, serving as a councilor and vice mayor. In 2020, he left “Eat Bulaga” and joined Net25’s “Happy Time”. However, the show ended after airing for only a year. He ran for representative of Tinambac, Camarines Sur in 2022 but withdrew from the race due to health and financial concerns.

The actor is currently gearing up for the TV5’s new program ‘Team A Happy Fam, Happy Life. But in the mediacon held last March 11, he revealed that he actually did not receive an offer to become part of the show.

However, Anjo Yllana appealed to TV5 management for employment and was willing to accept any role as long as he had a job.

“Ito kasi, hindi in-offer sa’kin. Nagmakaawa ako dito kasi wala akong trabaho. Sabi ko kasi sa Viva, nag-sign kasi ako sa Viva last year e wala pa akong project,” he said. “Sabi ko, “kahit ano naman, tatay roles,” he added.

Meanwhile, the former Eat Bulaga host will portray the role of Jerald’s father on Team A Happy Fam, Happy Life. It will air on Saturday, March 18 at 9:30PM.
