South Korea Offers 14 Scholarship Slots for Filipino Students

Filipino students may study in South Korea for free

SOUTH KOREA – The Korean Embassy in Manila is offering 14 scholarship slots for Filipino students.

It was on February 10 when embassy started receiving applications for the 2023 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). It will end on February 28, at exactly 4PM.

Based on a statement issued by the Korean Embassy as per the report of Philippine News Agency, ​​through the scholarship, students will have the opportunity to obtain graduate-level degrees and doctoral-level degrees in the best higher education institutions in Korea.

The 14 students from the Philippines will be chosen through the embassy track. They are expected to complete the graduate program.

The scholarship will shoulder the following such as; round trip airfare tickets, monthly stipend, tuition fees, settlement allowance, scholarship completion grants, Korean language training expenses and medical insurance

The Master’s Degree Program is estimated to last three years. It includes a one-year Korean language program. On the other hnad, the Doctoral Degree Programs will take four years and will have a one year Korean language as well.

The annual GKS program gives thousands of students from all over the world the opportunity to study in Korea. The program, according to the Filipino scholars, strengthens the relationship between Seoul and Manila.

According to the most recent GKS guidelines, applicants must be Filipino nationals under the age of 40 and born before September 1, 1983. The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of the previous degree program’s entire curriculum (bachelor’s or master’s) must meet one of the following conditions:

The score percentile must be 80 percent or higher on a 100-point scale, or it must be in the top 20% of the class. A CGPA of 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0 is required. For more information, go to the Korean Embassy’s website at https://overseas.mofa.go.kr/ph-en/index.do.
