After attempting to fast for 40 days like Jesus, a pastor dies
FASTING LIKE JESUS? – A pastor passed away after trying to fast for 40 days like Jesus.
Francisco Barajah, the founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church, died just 25 days into his endeavor. He attempted to go days without food or water and lost a significant amount of weight, “to the point where he could not stand u,” which ultimately caused his demise.
Doctors diagnosed the 39-year-old pastor with organ failure and acute anemia. He was given liquid food and serums by attending physicians in an effort to prolong his life, but it was too late. According to the members of the church which he founded, it was “common for the pastor and his followers to fast, but not for that long.”
Although his brother Marques Manual Barajah recognized that the pastor had attempted to fast in the manner of Jesus, he argued that the pastor actually had low blood pressure rather than the illness that his physicians had initially diagnosed.
This is not the first time a someone died after attempting to imitate the fasting of Jesus. In 2015, a man from Zimbabwe who tried to do it as well passed away after 30 days. Same thing happened to woman in London, who passed away after 20 days.
