FPJ’S BATANG QUIAPO – The production of the newest Kapamilya series apologized to members of the Muslim community who were hurt and disappointed by a scene that aired on February 14, 2023.

Many netizens, particularly Muslims, were disappointed by the scene in which Coco Martin’s character (Tanggol) steals and seeks assistance from his Muslim friend Abdul (Rez Cortez) as the police pursue him.

The police were unable to enter the place where Tanggol was hiding because they were afraid of the armed Muslims who helped him. The scene triggered the members of the Muslim community, with some expressing their frustration.

According to some Muslims who watched the said episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, such a scene is never acceptable in their belief and is a form of discrimination. It is said that Islamic teaching does not condone evil, especially stealing. Some Muslims also called to boycott the Kapamilya series for allegedly disseminating false information about their community.
