It was just recently when Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced that their local government unit has shutdown a branch of fast-food restaurant KFC in the city due to some violations. He claimed that the fast-food chain disposes wastewater in the creek that goes along with “sebo.”

According to him, the establishment is also lacking of environmental permit to operate. But the city mayor said that once the KFC branch secured necessary permits and documents, it may resume its operation.

“Pinasara ng LGU ang KFC Kapasigan kanina. Grabe yung kapal ng sebo, waste water nila diretso sa Parian Creek. Wala ring Environmental Permit to Operate. Maaari silang magbukas ulit kapag may EPO na. I love KFC, but I share this as a warning to other establishments,” he noted in a post.

Among those who commented on the announcement of Vico Sotto is no other than Senator Sherwin Gatchalian. In the comment section of the city mayor’s post, the senator said that the fast-food chain’s image will be affected of what happened.

“This is terrible especially from a known brand. Masisira KFC sa ganyan,” he commented. A twitter user with handle name @jamkutch responted to his comment, by saying: “Mediocre commment. Aren’t you a senator? Don’t just tweer, you’re not a teenager. Also, you tweet like one.”

KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken, an American fast-food restaurant chain that has over 300 outlets in the Philippines has yet to issue any statement regarding the closure of its branch in Pasig City.
