KAKAI BAUTISTA – The comedienne revealed that she’s one of the original singers of “Maynila” theme song, “Mahal Kong Maynila.”
Kakai, whose real name is Catherine Herrera Bautista, is an actress, host, singer, and comedienne. She started out as a theater actress.
It was in 2003 when she was discovered by Ricky Rivero after appearing in the play, Alikabok. Then, she was told to audition for drama series titled Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay directed by Lauren Dyogi.
Eventually, she starred in different television shows which include her villainous character in Kampanerang Kuba and Angelina in Kokey. She also starred in the Filipino-Thai movie, Suddenly It’s Magic alongside Mario Maurer. After that, she did the horror-comedy sitcom, My Darling Aswang on TV5.
Currently, she’s making a buzz online after revealing that she’s one of the original singers of “Mahal Kong Maynila,” the theme song of TV anthology show “Maynila” hosted by former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

It was just recently when she went to the video-sharing platform, TikTok wherein she revealed that she’s one of the original singers of the theme song of the TV anthology show.
Her remake of the song has gained millions of views and comments from netizens and even celebrities. Many were surprised that she’s actually one of the singers of the song famous for it’s line: “Mahal kong Maynila, sayo’y hindi mawawalay” which was composed by Vince De Jesus and released in 2002.
