It was on Saturday, December 10, Malacanang Palace hosted a meeting with President Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr. and bloggers. Apparently, some bloggers including Pebbles Cunanan and Maharlika criticized the meeting for Malacanang’s alleged poor treatment. They claimed that they were only fed with ensaymadas and juices during the meeting.

Maharlika stressed how the bloggers were poorly treated. In one of her posts, she compared the treatment given to bloggers versus the Malacañang Press Corps.

Amid the criticism that the Palace is receiving from bloggers, some netizens defended Malacanang because the event as they say is a “meet and greet” and not “meet and eat”.

Among those who reacted on the issue is veteran journalist Raissa Robles. In a tweet, she was asking if it’s true that Malacanang Press Corps were treated to a full-course dinner and received laptops and iPhones while pro-Marcos bloggers were invited to the palace and only got ensaimada and no goody presents.

Meanwhile, Robles is an investigative journalist. She’s currently a Manila correspondent of South China Morning Post (HK) – Asia’s oldest English language newspaper – and Radio Netherlands.

She used to be a contributing reporter for Asiaweek magazine of the Time-CNN Group, Asia Inc. magazine, and Riyadh Daily newspaper. She also did pieces for The Times of London and BBC Radio. Robles started out in Business Day, then The Manila Chronicle, Business Star, and Philippine Star newspapers.
