In a buy-bust operation, 2 agents and a PDEA district chief were arrested
PDEA – The chief of the Southern District Office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and two agents were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Upper Bicutan, Taguig City, Tuesday night.
The suspects were arrested for selling an illegal drug called “shabu” to a policeman who posed as a buyer at the PDEA headquarters. The suspects were identified as PDEA Southern District Office chief Enrique Lucero, and agents Anthony Vic Alabastro and Jaireh Llaguno. On the other hand, their driver named Mark Warren Mallo was also taken into custody.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confiscated small packages and a large package of suspected shabu worth P9 million. Aside from that, four (4) weapons, buy-bust money, and a digital weighing scale were also confiscated from the operation.
PDEA Director General Moro Virgilio Lazo was sad that those who were arrested were actually active agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
According to him, this is proof that they are not selective in their campaign against illegal drugs. “Tulungan kami dito sa trabaho namin to…this campaign against illegal drugs and we agreed na wala ano dito…no sacred cows,” Lazo said.
The case of the involved PDEA agents is still being investigated. They are currently being held by Metro Manila Police. The suspects did not appear to have given any statements.
Under the law, anyone guilty of importation or sale of dangerous drugs, with the manufacture of illegal drugs, or with the operation of a drug den can be punished with life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from P500k to 10 million pesos.
