P18K-P20K monthly salary for Professional Mechanical Engineer?

P18k-P20K PER MONTH?! – Some netizens couldn’t help but expressed their disappointment with the salary offered by a company hiring Professional Mechanical Engineer.

Based on the job description, the candidate must be a graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He/she is preferably a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer and has at least five (5) years of experience.

Unfortunately, many were frustrated with the company, especially the salary being offered. According to the post, the qualified applicant will receive a salary of P18,000 to P20,000 per month.

Many netizens were shocked by the salary being offered to those who will be hired. Others stressed that it’s a dream for many to become a licensed professional Mechanical Engineer.

A netizen said that the low salary of engineers in the country is the reason why some prefer to work abroad. Another netizen even joked that street beggars earn more than the salary offered by the said company.

“Ang hirap ng Calculus, Differential Equation, Physics at Thermodynamics, May thesis pa at Computer Programming, 1 year review at di pa sigurado kung papasa sa Board, 1 year Kang mag ka Cadette Engr. +1 year apprentice, at kailangan pa PME with 5 years professional experience, ay sa BPO na lang ako , 30k up, di ka pa malalangisan,” a netizen commented.

Previously, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) claimed that Badjao mendicants in Metro Manila are earning as much as P5000 a day.
