GCash: “Certain products on your Load purchases will come with a convenience fee”
GCASH – The Globe-backed fintech company recently released a statement about charging convenience fees for Smart load.
To recall, the company has recently added a 2% convenience fee to its users when they buy load for their Smart number.
In a statement obtained by Yugatech, the company said Talk ‘N Text and Smart implemented new costs and that the 2% convenience fees were for the company to recover the costs when providing its services for the subscribers of the said competitor.

The company also said that it will continue to provide safe, seamless, and convenient ways for its users to access various financial services on the platform.
“In light of new costs imposed by Smart and Talk ‘N Text, a minimal convenience fee will be applied by GCash to recover costs, when providing the Buy Load service to Smart and Talk ‘N Text subscribers,” the company said in a statement obtained by Yugatech.
In its Help Center, the company explained the new transaction costs for buying Smart load on the platform. According to the company, certain products on the users’ load purchases will be charged an extra fee.
Meanwhile, GCash announced last month that the company is set to roll out a new security feature on the platform in a bid to prevent unauthorized transactions amidst the proliferation of phishing scams and other types of scams.
“We never stop innovating to make sure our 71 million users have the safest and most convenient experience when they use the app,” GCash chief customer officer Winsley Bangit said at that time.
