A father from Leyte poisoned his son with pesticide
POISONING – A 7-year-old boy from Mahaplag, Leyte died after being poisoned by his own father with pesticide.
The victim was identified as Kyle Calusayan, a resident of Brgy. Hiluctogan, Leyte. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. According to the police, Joselito Calusayan allegedly fed his son cake before giving the pesticide ‘Brodan,’ and the child became weak after a few minutes.
Based on the investigation of the authorities, the suspect may have suffered from depression as a result of his unemployment and his live-in partner running away. On social media, the child’s mother identified as Layla Solis, posted a video how her neighbors helped in giving her child first aid before being rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the child was dead-on-arrival.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Joselito, is currently being treated at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center. On the other hand, the child’s mother defended herself. According to her via Balita.net.ph, her husband has been threatening her and her children for several times.
“Maayos akong nagsusustento ako sa kanila every week tapos sa konting away o konting alitan agad niya akong tinatakot na papatayin niya mga anak namin dun sa Leyte,” the mother said. Hindi lang isang beses, maraming beses po. Alam po ng mga kapitbahay namin sa Leyte na palagi akong binagbantaan o tinatakot ng aking ka-live-in partner,” she added.
The suspect is facing parricide charges, but according to the boy’s mother, his live-in partner has not been jailed until now. Netizens are crying out for justice following the child’s death.
