Fans of Ben&Ben had been anticipating the #BenandBenHomecoming2022 concert last December 18, 2022. It took place at Paranaque City in SMDC Festival Grounds.

But because there was a lack of planning, what was supposed to be a wonderful night rapidly turned sour. The company in charge of the event, Ovation Productions, was criticized by several concertgoers for a number of operational flaws.

On December 20, Ben&Ben posted a public apology on their social media page. A day later, Ovation Productions released an official statement addressing the complaints.

There were various entry and departure options on both sides of the venue, as was evident in the site map that was made available in advance. However, only one side was used on the actual day. The production firm explained why alterations had to be made the night before the event in their statement, and they also went on to discuss the logistical issues that arose behind the scenes.

Concert goers reported uncontrolled activity inside and outside the arena. Many stood in line for longer than three hours. Some of them were even sent from one gate to another as they struggled to determine just which line to go. The gate check for tickets was discontinued at some point. Some people claimed they couldn’t get to their assigned spot because of how congested the space was. There were several people who were initially scheduled to be closer to the stage but had to remain in the back.

Ovation Productions indicated that there were limitations on what may be posted at the venue. They acknowledged that there were security protocols that were not followed, but they also stated that this was vital to prevent further choas.

Another issue raised by attendees was what appeared to be a lack of marshals at the venue. People who were present saw that those who were visible lacked awareness of the procedures and protocols that could have assisted in appropriately directing the attendance. People had to pass through thousands of other concertgoers to get to the portalets because they were all located on the opposite side of the stage at the furthest end of the auditorium. Some people claimed they had to leave early because they were worn out. Given the enormous number of attendance, many questioned the emergency procedures and crowd control measures.
