After 20 years in hiding, two former tanods wanted for the killing of a police officer are apprehended.
WANTED TANODS – Two former barangay tanods wanted for the murder of a policeman in Quezon City were arrested after 20 years of hiding,
Alberto Javellana Jr., one of the suspects, was apprehended in Barangay Commonwealth on the basis of an arrest warrant for murder.
Javellana is the Quezon City Police District Station’s most wanted person.
Following this, his neighbor, Abdon Estrada, was arrested, also on suspicion of murder and as the station’s fourth most wanted person.
According to police, the suspects hid in a remote area.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Roldante Sarmiento, Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station Commander said the suspects and a police officer assigned to the Kamuning Police Station of the QCPD had an altercation while drinking with another police officer in 2002.
The officer was killed as a result of the altercation.
According to the suspects, they did not hide and were unaware that they were wanted. The suspects also denied killing the officer.

“Iba ang pumatay ho. Pulis din ang pumatay. Kasi kami, dati kaming BSDO (Barangay Security Development Officers), rumesponde lang po kami sa gulo. Napasama sa amin ‘yung isang pulis na kapitbahay din namin,” Javellana said.
Javellana stated that at the time, they were with another police officer, whom they blamed for the officer’s death.
