Mandatory Drug Test for Celebrities Pushed After Dominic Roco’s Arrest

MANDATORY DRUG TEST FOR CELEBRITIES – A lawmaker wants celebrities in the showbiz industry to undergo mandatory drug testing following actor Dominic Roco’s arrest.

Recently, a lot of people were shocked when news reports about an arrest of Dominic Roco, the son of veteran actor Bembol Roco. He was one of the people arrested during the drug buy bust operation conducted in Quezon City. Following his arrest, a lawmaker pushed for mandatory drug testing for celebrities. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative Robert “Ace” Barbers expressed his desire that film producers, directors, and even TV stations should make a drug test a requirement before a work. He is undergoing a drug test annually to prove that he walks the talk and he encourages other lawmakers to do the same.

DOMINIC ROCO – The son of Bembol Roco was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Roco, 33, a resident of the said barangay was nabbed along with a certain Reynaldo Sanchez Sy, 45; Eugene Marvin Tolentino, 27, of Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City; Renz Anthony Cruz Santos, 33, of Barangay Sto. Cristo, Bulacan; and Dexie Diamante Lopez, 21, of Caloocan City.

The suspects were nabbed in an entrapment operation conducted by the members of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Holy Spirit Police Station (PS14) at Don Antonio Heights Zuzuaerge, Main City Homes 7B, Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City at about 1:20 a.m.

Six pieces of a transparent plastic sachet containing P14,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves, 16 pieces of a heat-sealed small transparent plastic sachet containing alleged shabu with a street value of P102,000, a black pouch, and a digital weighing scale were confiscated from the suspects.

The suspects including Dominic Roco will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 (Sale and Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Article II of RA 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Meanwhile, Dominic Roco is the son of veteran actor Bembol Roco. He has a twin brother named Felix who’s also an actor.
